Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information is collected through shanethementalist.com (and its short link knockandwait.com), why, and what your rights are. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

The data controller is ShaneMichaelHatton Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15009701), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. ICO registration: applied for (application reference C2053495).

What is collected, and why

When you get in touch

If you use the “Begin the conversation” form or email us, we receive the details you choose to give: your name, email address, the type of event, its date, approximate guest numbers, the venue or town, and anything you write in your message.

We use this only to reply to you, discuss and quote for your event, and, if you book, to plan and deliver it. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract (and performing that contract if you book). Where we keep enquiry records afterwards, the basis is our legitimate interest in running the business and keeping proper records.

Please don’t include sensitive information (for example health details) in the form unless it matters for your event, such as accessibility needs. If you do, we use it only for that purpose.

When you simply visit

The site does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or embedded social media, and it stores nothing on your device. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the site secure and working. The basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. See the cookie policy.

Prediction pages

Pages reached from prediction cards at a show (for example knockandwait.com/p/…) collect no personal information.

Who your information is shared with

We never sell your information or use it for advertising. It is shared only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Vercel Inc. hosts the website.
• Resend delivers messages from the contact form to our inbox (processed in its EU region).
• Google (Google Workspace) provides our email, where enquiries are kept.

Some of these providers are based in, or may access data from, the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK–US Data Bridge or by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to standard contractual clauses.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or with professional advisers (such as an accountant) where needed to run the business.

How long it is kept

• Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking: up to 2 years, then deleted.
• Booking and invoice records: 6 years after the end of the financial year, as UK tax law requires.
• Server logs: kept by our host for a short period, typically days rather than weeks.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to see the information held about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how it is used, and receive a copy in a portable format. Email contact@shanethementalist.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113.

Photographs and videos from performances

Performances may be filmed or photographed for use on this website and social media. If you appear in footage and would like it removed, email contact@shanethementalist.com and it will be taken down.

Children

This site is meant for adults arranging events. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
